Kelly Everman, MD

Hi there! I am glad you stopped by to check us out. As a surgical sub specialist, you probably have many questions about why you were sent to my practice. I am a board certified and fellowship trained Oculofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon. I spent 6 years in Indianapolis at Indiana University undergoing extensive surgical training of the face and eyes. It began with a 4 year ophthalmic surgery training program and followed with a 2 year fellowship exclusively in Oculofacial Plastic Surgery in a combined program with Dr. William R. Nunery and colleagues at the Interface Aesthetic Surgery Group/Indiana University. My specialty is quite narrow in scope and has allowed me to develop a unique set of skills to help overcome the challenges of this delicate and vital area of the face. I take care of problems that people have involving drooping of the upper and lower lids and other lid malpositions, whether related to age, trauma, cancer, disease, etc. I am actively involved in reconstructing eyelid and facial skin cancers as well as tumors that invade the orbit (eye socket). I am also part of a team of facial trauma surgeons in Nashville that are using the latest technology for the most advanced facial trauma reconstructions, not only in the city and region, but in the country. I continue to take care of patients with complicated and advanced orbital diseases such as Graves’ Disease as well as both benign and malignant orbital masses. Finally, I enjoy taking care of patients with the often annoying problem of chronic tearing. Fortunately, we can fix this problem in the vast majority of patients. I have been involved and published the use of novel equipment and surgical techniques for helping address these needs.

I have been in practice since 2003 and have performed thousands of eyelid, lacrimal, and orbital surgeries and reconstructions. I have been voted by my peers as a Top Doctor every year since 2007 in both Columbus, OH and Nashville, TN. I look forward to using my unique set of training and skills to help you with your needs.

THINGS YOU DON’T REALLY NEED TO KNOW ABOUT ME:

  • I was the captain of the Men’s Swim Team in college at the University of Louisville ( Go Cards!)

  • I was born and raised in Cincinnati, OH. ( Skyline Chili is, in fact, amazing)

  • I was an assistant clinical professor at THE Ohio State University. ( Go BUCKS!)

  • I have trained over 12 fellows in the field of Oculofacial Plastic Surgery.

  • I have served as a staff team doctor for both the Indianapolis Colts and the Columbus Blue Jackets.

  • The best kind of pizza is Chicago style pizza. Detroit style, a close second. If I wanted to fold my pizza, I would have ordered a Calzone.

  • I started out training to be double boarded in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.

  • My wife is a nurse and a truly amazing spouse. She makes me better everyday. ( She was also a part of the now 20 time National Champion Ladybird Dance Team at the University of Louisville) Proud Husband

  • Every school or university that both my wife and I ever attended or taught at, has RED as the primary team color.

  • I have 3 daughters, two of which are Tennessee Volunteers. ( definitely NOT red- see above). One is a triathlete, one is a swimmer, and one is a dancer/musician. They have been amazing since Day One and sometimes can’t believe how blessed I am to have been given 4 such wonderful women in my life.

  • My wife rescues everything and everyone. But mostly, we rescue dogs. We love fostering dogs and well….sometimes we keep them. We currently have 4 in the house. An Aussie Shepherd/Mountain Cur mix, an American Eskimo/Retriever mix, a Husky, and the newest edition…an unbelievably cute and lovable Pyrenees Mastiff mix. You will probably see them more than anything else on the Instagram feed. My retirement plans involve running a dog farm/kennel. Seriously!

  • I have Lupus.

  • Reese cups ( particularly Reese Eggs) are my weakness. ( and occasionally peanut butter M&Ms)

My overarching goal is that you have a joyful, pleasant experience in our practice. I certainly hope to be able to solve the myriad of problems that come my way. I hope to offer support and encouragement when there are difficult situations that can’t easily be solved. Fortunately, these are rare. I will endeavor to find and hire staff that will work with and for you. Medicine is what I do, but it is not all that I am. Noted author Jamie George used to have a phrase to encourage others that was simply, “ Go and love well”. He said it to people every single week. While it may not be the Hipppocratic Oath, it is just a simple mindset/attitude we could all benefit from. I loved it so much, I put it on a wall in my offices as a simple reminder. Even if I never get the chance to meet you or help you, I’d encourage you to reach out to others and try and make a difference. Our goal of this practice is to do the same.

    Go and Love Well!
